Carrie S. Karnes BSBA, raised in Carmel, New York is a proud resident of Virginia since 1992. Married to Steven Karnes, she and Steven have two daughters, both graduates of The University of Virginia. Mackenzie Duncan, twenty-seven an attorney was recently married to William E. Duncan at Bruton Parish Church, they reside in Charlotte, NC with their dog Skipper. Madison, a physician recruiter, is twenty-five lives in Denver with her boyfriend and dog Tuxedo.
Prior to joining Riverside Health System nearly 10 years ago, Carrie was a stay-at-home mother for 18 years. During that time, she volunteered for the community in many capacities including: The Junior League of Hampton Roads, Huntington Garden Club, Walsingham Academy and Community Associates Institute. She currently remains an active participant in many Junior League functions as a sustaining member.
Throughout Carrie’s active community volunteer roles, it became clear that a passion for volunteerism would be a perfect fit career-wise. In 2013 when Riverside Doctors’ Hospital Williamsburg opened Carrie became instrumental in the opening with tours and events. Carrie currently oversees a volunteer program of resolute and active volunteers in the Williamsburg market for Riverside Health System. Her role involves community relations and volunteer recruitment, placement and retention. Carrie’s volunteerism in the community includes Heart Safe, Colonial Casa, United Way Team Member Campaign, Chamber of Commerce Health Committee, Tidewater Director of Volunteer Services Past President, Virginia Society for Director of Healthcare Volunteer Services Secretary, American Heart Association, House of Mercy, Relay for Life and Grove Christian Outreach Center.
Carrie’s hobbies are spending time traveling to family, baking, golf, walking, decorating, shopping, reading, and enjoying time at the beach with her husband Steve and puppies Ollie and Coco!
