Sherron Ware is a native of the region and was born and grew up down the road at Fort Eustis Army Post where her father was active military for 24 years. After attending college, she worked in Williamsburg beginning first with the James City County government and later the National Center for State Courts. Subsequently she moved into the healthcare arena and worked in administration at Williamsburg Community Hospital for 25 years. Following that stint, she was recruited by the partners in Doctors’ Surgery Center in its planning and opening and worked there as a manager for 9 years. Prior to Riverside Doctors’ Hospital was being built in 2013 she and 11 other professionals were hired by Riverside Health System and charged to recruit medical staff, nurses, and ancillary staff members prior to its opening. She continued there in her Medical Staff Services work. Partnering with area physicians, she has been administering the Williamsburg-James City County Medical Society for the past two decades. Sherron feels that the most rewarding aspect of her career has been collaborating with the physicians throughout the community.
She assisted Avalon during its first years of start-up. She has been a Board Member of a spiritual retreat center for ten years. She has supported and volunteered on both United Way and Operation Smile Committees. She had the distinct privilege of serving on an Op Smile mission to Peru, which was a heartwarming and most meaningful experience changing her life and the lives of 150 children. For two years she opened her home to teens facing struggles and life challenges.
Sherron has been a consistent fan and continuous supporter of Dancing with the Williamsburg Stars from its inception when her late husband danced in the very first flight of Dancing with the Stars at Phi Beta Kappa 12 years ago representing the William and Mary Alumni. She welcomes your generous support of her and Big Brothers and Sisters and Literacy for life.
